1961 Monaco Grand Prix Cars Racing  Films DVD

100 laps, 195 miles long, twisting and turning through the city of Monte Carlo, Monaco, the 1961 Grand Prix takes place on this film.  This is the 19th Grand Prix held in Monaco. 22 of the best drivers compete in this race. Close-ups of the entire circuit are given, avenue by avenue, street by street, boulevard by boulevard. 3 days of trials determine the starting line-up. Shots of the racing marshall and pit stop crews pre-race. The object is to qualify by turning in the fastest lap time.  A full fuel tank will take the care through the entire race as there is no time for pit stops or repairs. The only time the driver and mechanic can test the car is during the speed trials. Scenes of different drivers qualifying take place before the race. All nationalities participate: England, Belgium, Australia, France, Italy, the U.S., Sweden, Germany. Moss, Hill, Gurney, McLaren, Clark, Von Tripps  and more are highlighted. The starting line-up is given starting from the slowest at the back of the grid. 16 in all. Sterling Moss of course was at the front.  The Formula One car is discussed with all its modifications for the 1961 Grand Prix. Many of drivers objected to some of the modifications.  The Ferrari team is shown talking about their competition and the various strategies that will be employed in order to try and win the race. The Porsche is highlighted, being their very first year in designing a Formula One racing car. There were some issues with it during the time trials, and there is a lot of interest in its performance for the race. The team discusses the car: its new engine and front-end suspension. The race begins, with all the last minute goings-on taking place first. The flag drops and they are off, vying for position. The race is shown in its entirety.  The average speed is 70 mph., the fastest ever for Monte Carlo. Sterling Moss is once again the winner of the Gold Cup. A very informative interview is held with Sterling Moss
