1967 Indy 500 Cars Racing  Films DVD

May 30 and 31st, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the 1967 Indy 500 took place. The starting field was limited to 33 after a month of practice, qualifications and racing. The parade lap took place on the 30th and the race on the next day. The race is shown in great detail with full narration. The big news of the day was the  the 4 wheel drive turbo car driven by Parnelli Jones. It was the center of controversy during the entire preceding month. There was concern whether or not Number 40 would get into the race. This car was the latest and most revolutionary to come to Indianapolis and was capable of developing over 500hp. Mario Andretti was still the man to beat.  This year he smashed the one and four lap record to win the pole position. His 'hawk' was the ultimate in rear engine evolution. Gurney was second in qualifications. All the other front runners are discussed in terms of their track records. Slides, spins and crashes are highlighted from the preceding month. 63 qualifications were made and some never made it. The British team is highlighted: Stewart, Chapman, Clark and Hill. Rain actually stopped the race, allowing the pit crews to do their work, while waiting for clear skies. 5 hours later, the Indy was postponed. The whole month is celebration time with carnivals, picnics, parades and more.  The next day, the race resumed with 18 laps having been completed. All the details are shown, with spin-outs, collisions, crashes and more.  Jones is in the lead, but suddenly with only 4 laps to go, he starts coasting into the pit stop, in trouble. In the end, A.J. Foyt is declared the winner.
