This is a vintage collection of shorts films depicting Ford's early ventures into aircraft industry Pre- WW II most of the films are silent, but very interesting. 

  • Coast to Coast in 48 hours : This is a short, narrated film Black and white about one of the earliest Bi-Coastal voyagers  for passenger via rail and Air from New York to Los Angeles  . CHARLES LINDBERGH  was the technical advisor for the   TAT MADDUX Airline and helped to selected the route  for the plane .  
  • 1927 FORD Air Tours : this is a silent film by  PATHE NEWS telling the story of 10 planes in the 1927 National Air Tour: 4000 miles from East Boston to Schenectady, New York. Only 6 planes made the whole distance . the clip shows the planes coming in for their landing under very bad conditions. A clip showing the inventor of the pioneer earth inductor compass  , MORRIS W. TITTERINGTON, demonstrating the compass to the pilot  GEO. WIES. This compass actually made world flights possible in the 20's .  EDWARD P. WARNER, assistant secretary for aeronautics, arrives and is greeted by MAJOR CHARLES L. WOOLLEY.  Pilot MEYERS and his mascot, a spider monkey.  Pilot EDDIE STINSON, who leads on points and his ten-year old passenger , ROSE SHLEE. 
  • Construction of the FORD Tri-Motor : (silent) Installing the wing engines -- Metal propellers progressive assembly line: Illustrates how much manual labor was still used in the early assembly lines . Final inspection : going over with a fine tooth comb. Flight test inspection before the first flight . The fledgling  takes  its baptismal flight. Taking delivery.
  • In operation:  on air routes and airports throughout America. shows passengers enjoying the scenery from FORD Tri-Motor.   The FORD Tri-Motor being tested on Detroit River on Pontoons. This plane was purchased by the Canadian Government for  dusting spruce forests in an effort to eradicate the spruce worm. 1600 pounds of arsenate of lead are dumped in one load. 
  • Daredevils of the Air : This is a short film showing off the acrobatics of Hollywood stunt pilots and international aces and champions for an amazed crowd below.  Not only do they use Huge transport and other planes to test their skills, but also demonstrate ' spot landing ' as parachute jumpers.
  • Air Power: the early days ( narrated). aces of Aces,  EDDIE RICKENBOCKER,  Talking about early aviation during  WW I, and how the principles of Air Power and Combat flying were discovered, setting the stage  for aviation of the future. A  short film about the earliest aviation: 1908:  the Army buys a plane from the Wright Brothers  with little knowledge how the plane should be used for war ; 1910: ROOSEVELT flies in a Wright flier and then does it again as president. (this film is cut off  at the end).
Because this films is extremely old film footage, the quality in some parts is not 100 % nevertheless, this film definitely belongs in the library of aviation Enthusiasts and collectors alike! 53 minutes
