American Airlines DC-7 This film is from an American Airlines promotional film from the mid 1950s. It's a fun movie showing all aspects of a coast to coast flight, back when the ride was noisy and vibrational, but the service was grand. . The Douglas DC-7, an aircraft built to American specifications and Douglas' last piston engined airliner, was introduced in 1953. With this aircraft, American introduced nonstop transcontinental service in both directions across the United States in 1953. On a DC-7, one could travel from coast-to-coast, in either direction, in little more than eight hours. The DC-7 was also the first aircraft to be fitted with both in-flight and on-ground air conditioning systems. DC-8 Birth of a Jet This DVD is from a Douglas Commercial promotional movie from 1958.  Delta Air Lines, or Douglas Aircraft buff. There is some great Douglas historical footage, including the line assembly at the Long Beach plant. The DVD also contains some exciting footage of the first actual DC-8 flight in May of 1958.
